My problem is actually with Need For Speed Pro Street and it is that I cannot set the accelerator and brake pedals to control acceleration and braking,  The steering (x-axis) appears by default but the accelerator and braking are by default assigned to buttons.  When I try to set the controls I can only assign buttons not the x-axis or y-axis controls.  Note that the only way to set the steering to use x-axis is to reset to defaults since this function doesn't recognise turning the wheel when setting the controls

after restarting the game (which crashed during race completion section ) my "non-button"steering wheel controls are recognised in game .  so fixed
