[e} Moments not working

I am stuck at the point in the game where that crazy guy comes through the door after you hack it and tries to stab you in the eye with the needle. It's prompting me to press E and i do so rapidly but i cant move on all of a sudden. I tried switching multiple keys but it just doesnt work and i did re-install it and nothing i am on Chapter 11 and stuck there.
