Bejeweled 3 installation - how to skip DirectX install?

I have DirectX 9.0c (the version that comes with the Origin On The House version of Sims 2, in case that is relevant). However, Bejeweled 3 insists on trying to install DirectX 9.0c every time I try to install Bejeweled 3, regardless. This wouldn't be so bad but the installation of it fails because it claims some file is in use, even when the only thing running is the installer itself (which, by the end of my troubleshooting, I was running off the hard drive).
Since I already have a version of DirectX 9.0c that should be capable of running Bejeweled 3, please can someone advise me how I can skip the DirectX install and simply get Bejeweled 3 installed onto my computer? (Note: I have attached the log files referred to by the error that occurs during installation - the DXError one is indicating something else is preventing installation).
