Battlefield 1942 on Windows 10 64-Bit System - Won't launch

I have done everything in this post to the letter.  I'm only getting the black screen like it wants to run, then it shuts down the game.  I don't even get the EA splash screen.  I have turned on Direct Play, installed all of the updates and still unable to play.  If you need anymore info, just ask.  PLEASE help! I really want to play BF1942 and the Desert Combat mod again.  Thank you for listening!

i assume your on  windows 10 so what version of bf1942 you do you own   ea origin ?  or cd rom  ?

Hi, emile44,

I have been dealing with this issue for a few days now. I am on Win 8.1, cd rom version of bf1942. I have installed all the patches per instructions in your patch kit, activated direct play, made game to run off xp service pack 3, and also run as administrator, and the game will not load, asks if I would like to allow it to make changes, I say yes and it just goes back to the desktop. I uninstalled and tried everything again and no luck. Any further advice?

I still seem to be having same problems. On Win 10 64 Bit. I am using the BF1942 Deluxe Edition CD Rom, BF 1942 and Road to Rome

yeah mate have tried that and installed as per the readme but when i double click to launch i get the cursor spinning for a second then nothing happens just stays on desktop
