I can not get my sims game to work. This not keeps popping up 'UpdateTool.exe.' What's going on
February 2015
So, I finally got mine to work, this is what I did, similar to previous post.
Uninstall Origin (the normal way)
go here: http://www.oldversion.com/windows/download/origin-9-1-12-73 to download a different version of origin. (took about 3 mins to DL)
during install, unchecked the boxes "auto start origin upon boot" and "auto update origin"
finish install
once it was finished installing, it updated to the newest version and went to the signon screen.
don't know if it was my PC or what but when I tried to log in it gave me another apparently infamous error: "You Must Be Online When Logging In For The First Time"
After searching those forums for another hour I was able to fix it via the instructions in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fy1vPdWp2iY
Hope this helps somebody, and thanks again to those who posted the answers that helped me!

I was trying to play the Sims 3
It kept saying that it couldn't find UpdateTool.exe, but when I'm connected to the internet, it's perfectly fine?
No idea why that happens; my game isn't even online.

Just make a new folder and call it (copy and paste this to get it exactly correct):
UpdateTool.exe
Leave this folder on your desktop and BOOM try loading origin :robothappy:
This worked for my sims, so hopefully it works for you!
Good Luck!

@xgillisx wrote:Origin updated today but is now caught in a loop of trying to update each time I start it. After spending a few minutes "updating" it has a message that it cannot find UpdateTool.exe. Click OK. Try to start Origin and we go through the same process again.
