Origin Friends List

I recently tried to add my friend (he made a new account) on origin but somehow he did not appear in the online section of my friends list even though he was playing Medal of Honor. I checked his account and I was placed in his "Other Friends". I tried to unfriend him to re-send a request but a error keeps popping up (An error occurred while trying to unfriend this user. Please try again) but my other friend has no problem in adding him.
