The Rival Events are not working!

I have Need for Speed Most Wanted installed on my laptop, and during the game when I gain enough points to challenge the rival of that group, the event does not work.
From the easy drive menu, I set the destination of rival race on my map and when I reach the destination, it says to press accelerate and brake keys together and hold it to start the event, I do that but still the event does not start. I have tried uninstalling and re installing the game, restarting the game numerous times, I also repaired the game from the origin dashboard, but still no solution to my problem. Help me out please someone! :/
