nhl 14 gamer profile does have the correct permission to access this featur

So me and my bf just got an xbox 360 and hes trying to play online versus but every time we try it just says that the gamer profile doesnt have the correct permission. I tried going to the main menu and changing the privacy setting but that didnt work. Can anyone help us out?

I actually don't have this problem: I clicked on the "Me too!" button by mistake.

I don't have an Xbox (Sony FTW!), but what I can suggest is for you to check on the main Xbox menu if any parental controls are activated. Go into your gamer profile, and check. I can't help you too much, but try this.
