Online League for versus play with only user-controlled teams?

Is there a game mode that allows for a few users to select teams and play against each other in a league format while tracking records and stats with no other computer controlled teams? Basically we would like to play a GM Connected mode without having to play against computer controlled teams. Is there any way to do this?
