This just started happening to me on Monday.
Created a team and was unable to invite my buddy to it. Once I tried to leave it said I couldnt leave the team at this time. Once I went back and reloaded the EASHL hub I was able to create a new team and invite him. We played 10 games, flash forward to Tuesday and now I'm back on the old team along with back on the new team.
I have contacted EA and recieved the same BS answer. They have told me to wait for a reply from a NHL 14 specialist. Explain to me why EA I have payed for this game along with boost slots and now I'm supposed to wait 15-25 business days for a response or a fix? I bought this game for the EASHL just like I have every year since its incarnation. Was I offered a refund or something for the headache of your servers being messed up? That would be a no. Very dissappointed in EA.
