[Bug report] Industrial tech level in the region and specialisation gameplay

another region that i can't play as intended.

Here's what i had in mind :
I have 2 cities. Each one is going to get 1 specialisation. The first one will be Education, and the other one, processor factoring.

-The educational city is going great, i have all educational buildings including a university. I have residential and commercial buildings only. The tech level is really high. I have a train station, trams, regional buses and normal buses, 200K+ sims.

on this picture, you can see the purple line on the street that's going out of the community college and spread in the city. For me, this line is the zone of effect of high/medium tech. You can see that it doesn't spread out of the city :

-The industrial city is not going well AT ALL. I only want industrial zones in there, and of course my processor factory and some trade depot. I have a train stations and buses in the city. The only industries i can get here is low tech. The only workers i have come from the first city, but they seem to let their brain on the night stand in the morning since no medium/high tech is build there. I can't even buil my processor factory since it requires 5 medium industries in the city at least. I tried for hours to figure it out, ased questions to every dev team guys on twitter (without any answers, thanks very much). I decided to try to plop a community college in the middle of my industrial zone. After a while, seing that the community college had no student (even from the region) i had to zone some residentials. Tadammmm, after a while people from the residential zones started to go to the college and i had that purple line again :

Well that's not great AT ALL. This mean that i'm forced to have 2 specialisations in one city to make it work, which goes totally against the design of the game. I wasn't bothered at all with the map size, since i thought i was able to spread thing as much as i wanted and have the benefit of the region.

I really hope i could have an answer on this, i can't continue my region project for now because of this (my first one is unplayble because of the Recycling plant bug........).

Edit : one of the problem could be that there's no low/medium/high tech demand level (like in simcity 4), it looks like tech level is only driven by surrounding building which would be odd...

PS : sorry for my english, not my main language Wink

Tha'ts great planning on your part.. I'm likewise frustrated with the inter-city dynamics.  Not intuititive, and often not functional.

I agree, small city map size can work, but not if the cities don't function together properly.  I can't even get utility sharing to work consistently.. there seems to be a cap, where my cities refuse to import any more power, water, etc from the next town.  Anyhow, I hope your issue gets solved!  and mine..

Thank you Standard smile

For the first time since launch, I closed the game because I was bored with those issues, I spend hours building two regions that can't work properly, don't want to start a third one....

Did 3 tech specilized cities, 2 first not very lucky, but always did it in normal city with residential, commerce and other services, and small amount of industry.

And yes, every time builded univercity and good working education system (its need for recycling - very important part of tech chain).

It was very hard with small size of maps and killed budget, because education and tech+trade is very very expensive. So never did more then 2 processors and 2 consumer fabrics, and got budget with -10k/hour and more. Have no idea how to reach 3 lvl of electronics in city like that. Maybe need to remove commerce at all and left only few residential, but then budget will be -30/h and not sure that tech will help me with money to not end game in first ingame day.

Another problem that city like that cannot efford any help in great works. Trying to stop selling your production killing economy, and you have no options to manage how many of total production you just give away for project.

One more bug:

Electronic departament of trade HQ works wrong or have wrong description. It will not open ability to make Alloy, Plastic storages on port, only Processor, Computers and TVs.

I just made a test run myself. And somehow the workers from my 150k educated city do not want to go to my industrial city. I have regional busses and trains and stuff. But still. Region view shows no activity of traveling workers. Whats the point of region play it is not working at all?

Yeah it's game breaking for me right now

I can't get an official answer for the tech level on twitter, they just ignore that question, I used to have lots of answers for the team before the game was released....

did lots of new test around this issue. I absolutely can't do anything to make sims create high tech industries in other city than the one where education is, that's killing me !
