Hello all,
i can not get surround sound working in Mass Effect 3. I am using an Onboard Realtek Soundcard with enabled Dolby Digital Live.
I get sound out of the center and the front left and right speaker, but the rear speaker are completly off.
In all other games, surround sound is working fine. Also in the newest ME Andromeda, it works perfectly.
Are there any options i can set. Is there a way to force 5.1 Sound in gamersettings.ini or something like that?
One additional strange thing is: In the Systeminformations utility from ME3, under the audio tab, a 7.1 Surround Sound Configuration is displayed.
With Dolby Digital Live, you can not set the speaker configuration. You choose DDL 5.1 as standardformat and thats it and as i said - in all other games it is working.
Hope someone can help me... playing in stereo is way less immersive for me .
Greetings,
Michael

So your PC is connected via an S/PDIF cable to a receiver?

Yes, thats right!

Ok, the problem here is that ME3 supports Dolby Digital out of the box.
Did you tried to disable Dolby Digital Live and passthrough the signal?

I dont know how to passthrough a dolby digital signal from a pc game. In Windows i can only switch between DDL, DTS-Connect and different 2 Channel Standardformats at the SPDIF Playback device. And if i set any 2 Channel Standardformat i get sound but it´s only stereo too.

You wroth that there is a 7.1 sound configuration displayed in your "MassEffect3Config" utility. Do you have another sound device connected to your PC? And if so how is this device configured?
In the "MassEffect3Config" utility under "Sound" and "Sound devices", is your SPDIF output listed?
