Just got back into ME in anticipation of new game coming soon. Am now playing ME2 because want to have a save for ME3. Anyway, am at the point in game where I have all companions and am doing each persons personal quest. The game has had no issues running to this point. But today I launched the game. The loading screen came up and can clearly hear the sound. Yet when I hit a key to continue and get to menu. The sound is gone. Loaded game, all is silent. Checked options, sound enabled. Anybody got any ideas whats going on. Cyberous is connected.
Thanks

Try to repair the game. (in Origin > Game Library > right click ME2 > Repair)
If that don't works, is it the same with another save game?
Did you double checked your Windows sound settings?

Thought of the repair after posting this. So did a repair. That seems to have worked. Relaunched the game and sound was back. Not sure what caused it. It was working, then suddenly it wasn't. Weird. Anyway problem seems to be solved.
Side not @holger1405: Why would I check system sound setting when the game has sound at up to the point where you hit a key to continue.
If it was a system sound issue, I wouldn't have any sound. Even during loading. Just a point to ponder. Thanks for the reply. It was the correct solution.

Because loading screen sound is just on sound file, in game sound is more complex and it could very well happen that the sound is jumping to another audio device if the Windows settings are incorrect.
Good to hear that the repair fixed it. Have fun gaming.

Is there somewherr I can download this 'repair' feature?
I've nothing remotely resembling Origin > Game Library > right click ME2 > Repair
Likely, since I've steam?
I have C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Mass Effect 2
if there, I Rklik on MassEffect2Launcher.exe, there's no 'repair' option in the windows popup list.
Same result in the binaries path under that, looking at MassEffect2.exe or MassEffect2Config.exe
Steam's verify files came back ok.
Once, this started working again when I ran it straight from the directory (rahter than steam) using 'run as admin', but that, too, stopped.

"Repair" under EA/Origin is the same thing as "Verify" under Steam.
