file "phonon4.dll" is missing

Installation of the game was successful, but I can click on the game all I want and it won't open.

I have tried repairing the game under "my games", I have uninstalled and reinstalled it completely and no change.

Running it on compatibility troubleshooting did not work either; that was when the error message came up that phonon4.dll is missing.

In another post in the forum someone said their missing product code was the problem, but I see mine, so that doesn't apply to me...

None of the sites on the web for dll download are trustworthy, is there another way to solve this problem?

I have now solved this problem myself, although not in a way that makes an awful lot of sense.

I tried dowloading the entire game again using the CDs this time, which still didn't work.

Finally (since I'd bought the trilogy) I decided to just load Mass Effect 2 as well, and who knew.

The phonon4.dll issue solved itself once Mass Effect 2 was installed.

did not work for me at all when i press play it seems to go into the ad screen and then just bombs out with both games

Try to repair the game. (in Origin > Game Library > right click ME > Repair)

I solved the problem by disk clean up redownloading and reinstalling origin and taking out the zip files from the from direct x
