Mass Effect: First 4 Bytes Read As Zero From...

I am unable to play the game and have tried numerous fixes. I purchased it on Steam.

Here's the screenshot.

 Above I provided a screencap of the error it gives me. This error occurs immediately after I create a new character prior to the opening cutscene.
The error is:
"First 4 bytes read as zero from
...\BioGame\CookedPC\Maps\PRO\BIOA_PRO00_LOC_int.SFM."

Followed by a long string of additiona error code, detailed in the screenshot.


I am running off Windows 7, 64-bit. Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 940 @ 2.93GHz
2 1gig ATI Radeon HD 5670 graphic cards running Crossfire.
8gigs of RAM
1gig of VRAM
Updated drivers, updated DirectX. ME2 functions perfectly fine in windowed and full screen.

I have attempted using only one of the graphics cards, I tried reinstalling the game itself. Reinstalling DirectX.
Running in Admin. I have installed the 1.02 patch. I changed the compatibility to run as Windows XP in the Launcher.exe, MassEffect.exe, MassEffectLauncher.exe... and nothing. Even tried using texture mods to see if that would force it to work, and nothing. Same results.
