Mass Effect 1 won't launch (Steam) [ Edited ]

I just tried to start Mass Effect 1 on Steam with no success.  Each time I try to start the game, the launcher window opens and I choose "Play Game" and click "Okay".  After that I get nothing.  I have seen several forums on the issue where people mention running as admin but that hasn't worked for me.  Please advise.

Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit

Intel Core i7-3770 3.4 GHz

16GB RAM

AMD Radeon 7700 - 2GB

@Can you try running in XP Service Pack 3 compatibility mode and see if that helps? Right-click the MassEffect.exe file then choose Properties. In the Compatibility tab you should see your various relevant options. 

The file will be at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Mass Effect\Binaries by default.

Hi, i've got the same problem on Steam.

I already changed it to XP SP3 and to launch as an admin.

I get this Error: "Application load Error 5:0000065434"

I cant find some useful help with Google.

Hope you can help
