Mass Effect 1 - Failed to find default ungine .ini file

Whenever I try to launch ME1, I get a message that says "Failed to find default game engine .ini file to retrieve My Documents subdirectory to use. Force quitting." The weird this is that the game was working, but was somehow uninstalled and now doesn't work. Help would be much appreciated.

Can you try a repair of the game? Right-click the game panel to get the repair option, please check again after running this. If you're on Steam you can verify the game cache integrity.

If the issue persists, can I check if you're using any mods?

Try to run Origin and the Game exe as Administrator.  (Origin game folder: >drive<:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Mass Effect 3\Binaries, Steam: >drive<:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Mass Effect\Binaries)
