Mass Effect 1-2 Import Character Failure

So, I bought the set and I just finished ME1. I went to play ME2 and it didn't save any of my decisions from ME1 so I researched how to do it and when I tried manually at first origin said the saves weren't synced so after choosing the local option the game wouldn't open. I repaired the game using the repair option and it opened the game but still the correct save wasn't there.  So I think I need some professional guidance. I'm hopeless when it comes to these things. Thank you in advance!
