A Banquet For Sasquatch; A Tutorial

[ Edited ]
Hero (Retired)

A Banquet For Sasquatch is a Boss Hunt in which the Players operate as a team of Plants against a horde of Zombies, Zombie Heroes and Fire Variants. The game mode relies heavily on coordinated team work between four (4) Players. Microphones are encouraged.

Should the team all be vanquished simultaneously only one retry is allowed.

TIME LIMIT: 30 Minutes

There is a time limit to game play and should the thirty (30) minutes allowed for play expire The Sasquatch will become "Enraged" and at that point Boss Hunt will make every effort to completely destroy the Players as the difficulty will dramatically increase with additional Zombies spawning in. Once The Sasquatch becomes Enraged you have only 90 additional seconds to vanquish him before the game is lost.

ZOMBIE OPPONENTS

The Zombie enemies featured in the A Banquet For Sasquatch are limited but can appear in larger hordes and some waves can feature numerous Gargantuars. When selecting your character class base your choice on how well you can tackle these types of Zombie opponents;

THE BOSS: THE SASQUATCH

The Sasquatch is a High Health variant of the standard Yeti Boss, differentiated by the his brown fur, slower speed and the fact that his attacks are Fire based rather than Ice based; The Sasquatch's attack pattern is identical to that of the Yeti and will feature a ranged attack of throwing three Fireballs, a dance which summons a Hail of Fire from the sky and a powerful burst-style Fire attack which strikes any Plants which come within Close Range.

SASQUATCH IMPS

This Boss Hunt features a unique Imp variant which is identical to the Yeti Imps which accompany the Yeti Boss, only as the Sasquatch is essentially a Fire Based Yeti, the Sasquatch Imps are the Fire based equivalent of the Yeti Imps. Their attack pattern remains the same except rather than explode and freeze a Player they will explode and set them on Fire.

TEAM COMPOSITION

Character choice plays a large role in the success or failure of the Boss Hunt as well as the individual skill level of each Player, how well they can use their chosen Character and how well they can function as a team both with or without verbal instructions,

When reviewing the composition of your team bear in mind that most of the enemies and Boss level characters in this Boss Hunt have the capability to set you on Fire for additional damage over several seconds; being within range of a Heal Flower or having a Heal Beam targeting you will cancel or otherwise prevent the Player from being set on Fire or immediately extinguish the Fire and prevent the extra damage associated with it so it is highly recommended that your team contain two Sunflowers.

Basic team composition must include at least one Sunflower, if not two or more. The Vampire Sunflower variant is useful due to the fact that when she inflicts damage she heals herself. The Electric variants is useful due to the arcing electricity which results from a hit and the Fire Flower is also useful due to the extra burn damage inflicted over time. When selecting a Sunflower it is suggested that you use the Rainbow Heal Flower variant rather than the default, should you have it available to you, as the Rainbow Heal Flower drops single Sundrops constantly rather than small groups of them every few seconds.

The elevated Health of the Citron class and Peel Shield makes them a good fit for a team as well as the fact that they possess a Speed boosting ability which will be useful when The Sasquatch Summons Healing Burgers. The EMPeach ability is also useful for slowing down the the larger number of enemies which swarm this particular Boss Hunt.

The Peashooter also benefits from a Speed boosting special ability as well as their Chili Bean bomb and a selection of elemental based variants. Toxic Pea is preferred due to the Toxic aura which can effect nearby enemies but any of the Peashooter variants can provide an advantage.

The Kernal Corn class is useful due to the Shuck Shot and Husk Hop abilities and the Butter Barrage/Bigger Better Butter airstrike can be useful against stationary Boss characters or the Sasquatch himself; BBQ Corn might be preferable due to the Fire effect associated with his primary weapon.

The Rose is another class where the Toxic, Fire and Ice variants can be useful. Roses with their Homing Upgrade enabled are preferred but due to their lower Health Rose players should be adept at keeping their character alive. Goatify will be useful against the Zombie Heroes and Time Snare can be used to slow down the hordes.

Torchwood, due to his high Health, Leaf Shield, Blaz'n Blast, and Smoldering Madness can contribute greatly if used properly.

Chompers are not recommended due to the fact that the class, with the exception of the Yeti Chomper, is exclusively Melee and Close Range; since the Sasquatch has the ability to instantly set characters within Close Range on Fire, and during the Summon Healing Burgers phase the majority of Burgers will spawn out of reach of a Chompers Bite or Spray attack.

The Cactus Class is another class which is not recommended. Since most of the Cactus Class have a slower rate of fire and a focus on long range this particular class will require a higher level of skill in order to successfully survive and contribute during the Boss Hunt.

MAP LAYOUT

This Boss Hunt takes place in Sandy Sands, with the area near the center of the map near the sarcophagus on the raised structure being where the Bait will be initially placed.

STARTING THE GAME

The game will not start until four (4) Players have entered the map. The first task will be to choose a Taco to lure the Zombies; the choice of Bait will determine the difficulty level and the first person to arrive at the baiting location is allowed to choose the Bait, and therefore the difficulty level; in order to access Hard mode you must first have been a member of a team which defeated Normal mode, and to access Crazy you must have first beaten Hard mode.

Normal Mode: Perfect Taco
Hard Mode: Enchanted Taco
Crazy Mode: Scrumptious Taco

Once the Bait has been chosen it must be defended through three waves of Zombie enemies beginning with a basic force of Bowncoat variants.

THE TACO BECOMES GREASY

Beginning with the second Wave after the Bait is set you will experience another Wave of Browncoats mixed with hordes of Sasquatch Imps and some Zombie Heroes

The third wave of Zombies will contain Browncoat variants, Sasquatch Imps, and Zombie Heroes but will also feature the Gargantuar Boss.

THE SASQUATCH

After the third wave of Zombies are vanquished the Sasquatch will spawn at the bait site; it is advised that the players keep clear of this area when it become clear that the previous Wave is almost completely defeated. After the Sasquatch Spawns he will be accompanied by the same mix of Zombie opponents as the previous Wave.

At this point the the goal of the team should be to attempt to reduce the Sasquatch Health by about one third and to also vanquish the hordes of normal Zombies which accompany him and which will continuously spawn

THESASQUATCH SUMMONS HEALING BURGERS

After being reduced to approximately two-thirds Health the Sasquatch will cease attacking and Burrow into the ground. While underground he cannot be attacked and will not directly attack the Players, but if he should unintentionally burrow directly underneath you your character can suffer a Knock Back effect and a small amount of damage.

At this time a Countdown Timer will be set and Healing Burgers will begin to spawn one at a time throughout the map while more Browncoats and Zombie Heroes continue to spawn. The goal of the team is to destroy the healing Burgers before the timer runs out; each Burger destroyed will add a small amount of time to allow the team time to destroy the next Burger.

Should the Timer run out before all of the Healing Burgers are destroyed the Sasquatch will regain a portion of its Health and reemerge from the ground, at which time the Hunt will continue.

Teams may wish to consider having only two or three members actively destroying the Healing Burgers while one or two members concentrate on vanquishing the Browncoats and Zombie Heroes which spawn. Moving in pairs so that one Player can protect the other while they destroy a Burger can make the process smoother.

HUNGER PANG INFERNO

If the Team successfully destroys all Healing Burgers the Sasquatch will remain Burrowed and will trigger a new countdown timer for the Hunger Pang Inferno. The Hunger Pang Inferno is a game ending event which will force a Team Retry, and since only one Team Retry is allowed the team cannot afford to fail at this phase of the Hunt more than once.

To protect the team against the Hunger Pang Inferno a Garden must be raised at one of the points on the map used for the Suburbination game mode- the game itself will randomly determine which of the three Gardens can be used and IT WILL NOT INDICATE IN ANY WAY OTHER THAN LIGHTING UP A CIRCLE AROUND THE GARDEN WHICH MUST BE USED.

The team must visually see the glowing circle,  the game gives no HUD indication of  where to go or what to do and there is not enough time to circle the map checking each Garden it is important to move immediately towards the center of the map when the Hunger Pang Inferno is announced.

On the platform where the sarcophagus is placed if you position your character at the top of the stairs on either side you will be able to quickly see both the center Garden area and the Garden to either the left or the right, depending on the staircase  at which you are positioned. If either of the Gardens you can see lights up you will be able to quickly move towards it, and if they don't then you will know to move towards the Garden you cannot see from your position. Players with microphones should use them to direct their team.

It is important to note that each Garden area will be used only once, which makes determining which one will be used easier as the game progresses.

The Garden must be raised by the players by remaining within the glowing circle, similar to capturing it in Suburbination and it must be raised completely to protect the team from the coming Inferno. The more Players in the circle the faster the Garden will raise, again similar to Suburbination. During this phase of the game, and only during this phase, Blitzers will spawn and attempt to use their Tackle Attack to knock the Players out of the Garden area to delay them.

To have the best possible chance for success multiple Players must assist in growing the Garden as one Player alone is likely to fail.

If the Team fail to completely raise the Garden they will be vanquished by the Hunger Pang Inferno and if no Team Retry is available the game will end.

If the Garden is successfully raised it will form a protective dome shield to protect the Players. All Players must be within the boundaries of the protected area before the timer expires otherwise they will be instantly vanquished, but as long as one Player survives the game will continue.

THE HUNT CONTINUES

Once the timer expires and the Hunger Pang Inferno is unleashed the Sasquatch will burst up through the newly grow Garden and destroy it and the game will continue and the sequence of events will repeat.

THE SASQUATCH CALLS FOR HELP

If the team successfully reduces the Sasquatch's Health to approximately one third, surviving two Hunger Pang Infernos in the process, when the Sasquatch Burrows for the third time he will Call for Help.

After the Call for Help the number of Browncoats and Zombie Heroes spawning will increase and they will be joined by multiple Gargantuars.

The team will have approximately 90 seconds or so to fight this more powerful horde before the Sasquatch initiates the final Hunger Pang Inferno. During the delay it is suggested that the team concentrate on vanquishing the Gargantuars initially since they will represent the greater threat while they attempt to raise the last Garden.

ENDGAME

If the team successfully survives the last Hunger Pang Inferno the enhanced spawning of the Zombie horde will continue from this point onward until either the Sasquatch or the team is vanquished.

Thanks for realitysquared for the details.

I beat crazy with an army of 4 sun flowers.

Here is the tricks to nail it :

0. Play with your friends and use microphone.

1. Team combination: Recommended at least 2 sun flower to keep group healthy. Pair them with other players.

2. Potted plant: Best one is goop pot (the green one) on all 3 pots. As soon squash come out, it will get goop and freezed. Bring big gun during this precious moment (sun beam, pea gattling, husk hop, etc)

3. After it lost 25% of health, it will dig and you need to destroy healing burger.

4. Best place is stay put on top. You can reach all of them from here. Split one group to left and one group to right (pair them with sun flower).

5. Then you get icon on your head and need to go one of 3 posts to raise the tomb (similiar to suborbination). There're all star that will try to bounce you out. Kill that all star first.

6. Put the goop pot on the nearby area so when squash come out, it will get goop again so you can quickly bring out the big gun.

7. If you do all them as I said, cycle repeat 4 times and you will beat the squash easily.

Good luck.

Great guide! Follow those rules and you will manage to conquer this crazy Canadian Sasquatch! I've played with a random squad and only one of them had a mic / spoke. We gave clear direction and everything was fine. Just stay calm and keep having fun so you'll earn a well earned winter hat for next winter :-)

Thank for that guide and keep the good work!!!
