Madden Franchise mode; Contract

Hey.

I have a problem. I am palying the franchise mode as a player and after a while my contract ended. I hoped, that I would stay with my team, if I do nit agree to any contract. No I don`t have a contract and I cannot play anymore. Is there a way of getting a new contract anymore or is my character "ruined"?
