Legendary pack

What gives with the 24 hour limit on that legendary pack and the little red circle with "1" in it for new offers didn't even show till this time last night(about eight hours after the 24 started) and I didn't have any gems, but I would have and by the time I got home today I didn't have to bother trying to make it because I was already an hour past.
Oh well I'm not crying because of it, but I would have purchased the one that we are allowed.
Instead because I already had an iTunes card in case I got home in time and although it was almost double the amount of gems(8 single packs) I still got my legendary...in fact, I got two in my last three packs but one I already have a set

I believe there are daily-ish (24-36 hours?) updates in the store for special offers, like the guaranteed Legendary for 500 gems.
