Are packs completely random?

So far on my account I've spent over £200 on FIFA points, and I've not packed any team of the seasons, are packs really random because I've been completely put off spending money on the game because I received no sort of reward for what I spent, I'm only 17, £200 is a lot of money to me and to throw it all away getting nothing is ridiculous.

They are random - sometimes you get the items you want, other times you won't.

Because they're random it's impossible to know what you're going to get before you open the pack, aside from the normal "12 golds, 3 rare" or whatever the pack description is.
