BUT, in the DLC, Peebee reincarnates into Poc! There! *simpers with a face tired*
Great... Now I have to mate with a Remnant bot...

Nobody knows how to get there yet. Rewarding, probably! There are tentacles too ... it might be ... different.

i'd rather have a mechanic where somebody dies when you botch a mission, not just for cheap emotional tugs. sort of like the SM in ME2.

Probably the same way you get through Vetra's armor...

PEEBEE
This is my next bet. After Drack (sobs quietly), Peebee is one I would like to have killed to make me feel emotional about it. Peebe is a character that needs dying for me to notice her absence.
The scene where she would die would be exactly giving her life to save someone from your crew, or perhaps saving the whole Tempest crew form impending death. When she's at the last moments, keeping a huge biotic field, her ex-lover, the "Ta-girl", appears beside her.
Ta-girl: "What, are you going emotional now?"
Peebee: "I guess I'm that boring." *weeps while smiling*
Ta-girl: "Hey, you did saved them."
Peebee: "Peebee for the rescue. Ryder's rubbed on me."
Ta-girl: "You can let go now. See you on the other side. Ta."
Peebee closes her eyes and slowly embraces eternity.
If I could take XP from you, I would, just for suggesting such a thing... don't mess with my Peebee! LOL
No-one deserves to have Ta-girl as the last person they see/talk to. It's both sad and wrong

Anybody hurts Peebee and I will come for you.

Same with Liam.
Just don't touch the crew !! At least not the LIs. Not without an option to keep them alive.

Wow. That was so sad. Oh the feels. Very well done.

If you want an emotional response and you aren't emotionally invested enough in the characters for it to work, there is an option.
The alliance as it stands is based on four groups:
1) the Nexus, headed by the Ambassador
2) the Colonies, headed by August Bradley
3) the Angara, headed by the Moshe
4) the Krogan, headed by Morda
(I'm not counting the Exiles, since the friendly ones mostly defected to the colonies and the Kadara Port boss mostly just keeps the rest off our backs)
If the 3-4 leaders are assassinated back-to-back, so it looks like retaliatory killings, the alliance will break apart, and you will have to run around and head off/stop a multilateral war and put the alliance back together to stop the Kett. I don't know about you, but I would get a very emotional feel of "NOOOOO! EVERYTHING I BUILT IS BURNING!". Kind of like in ME3 when you are trying to scrape together every bit of firepower you can to stop the Reapers and the Quarians insist on blowing up the biggest, most powerful warship in the galaxy with you on it.
