Base game content

I'm thinking of getting BF1 but I've been looking at BF4 vs BF1 comparisons and there appears to be much less content in BF1. I probably won't buy the expansions as it's expensive enough as it is so I don't want to get something that relies on DLC to really bulk out the playability if the game. I guess that leaves 2 questions.

1. Does the lesser content in BF1 limit the game's longevity
2. Is the base game likely to have anything new added or will that only come as part of paid for DLC from now on?

@eI-nombre In case with Battlefield 4, DICE LA made a great work. They fixed a lot of bugs and made the game playable. Also, they released few free maps and DLC's  for Battlefield 4 that was a great idea I think. I really hope that DICE LA also will do for Battlefield 1. At the moment DICE LA is focused on improving the game and developing Premium Content according with Premium Calendar https://www.battlefield.com/games/battlefield-1/premium

So, in my opinion it's too early talk about free content at least for now.  I think we will get more free content after premium period.

Battlefield 4 is still alive and has a good online stats and I'm sure Battlefield 1 will live a long time. At the moment Battlefield 1 has one free map : Giant's Shadow.  Also, you can play on Premium Maps with Premium Friends feature https://www.battlefield.com/news/article/introducing-premium-friends-a-word-from-our-producer
