I did both of what you suggested and I still get EA servers are unavailable. So frustrating.
Ive been having this issue since I got the game. I have tried different things and it might work for a while but it comes back to this. My NAT is open, blah blah. And when I do get a match, it's ridiculously laggy, to the point where it sucks the joy out.

any updates on this. could it be the xbox one console? or just the servers? so many days and still not working

I had this problem, but my game would always go back to where i left it rather than from the start
i changed password security question and that but nothing THEN i realised end task to quit the game, ie xbox one hit start button on your game app then quit restart game asks to link back to origin and hey presto,,,, hope this helps out.

Could you please go to https://account.origin.com/cp-ui/security/index (log in with your Origin account) or use the Origin client on your PC and add a security question to your account and then try logging in on your PS4/Xbox One again?
