ive had origin since 2014, it worked perfectly fine since last month. when i update to the latest versions of origin the update restarts over and over and never finishes. The first time it happened to me I uninstalled and reinstalled origin, and it worked fine until recently. It was resetting again, so I uninstalled it once again with the intentions to reinstall it afterwards. However, I cannot install it. Ive done a clean reboot, my internet is stable, I've disabled all the firewalls i could possibly find on my computer, I've unblocked the system, deleted all of origins files. I've even tried inserting a sims 4 disk and downloading origin off that. When i do get it to open and install it just resets itself again and again and never installs. I just want to play my sims games. I've invested hundreds of dollars into my origin account. Please help me. I dont want to have to reset my computer and lose my saves and my custom content.

Well, that'd make sense that it cannot find the UpdateTool if you uninstalled the program following my advice earlier. The fact it tries to update itself even then Origin isn't there kinda.. sounds weird though, sounds like there would be some traces of Origin left there somewhere for it to even try doing that. Did you uninstall Origin properly or simply deleted it ?
First of all, during this process, do not have the Sims 4 disc in your disc tray so it won't start automatically doing anything. Then follow this advice:
- Open up your Start menu (the button bottom left), write "Add or remove programs" and click on the choice it should find with the same name. Scroll down the list and see if you find Origin on that list. If you do, click it and choose Uninstall.
- Clear your Origin's data cache to ensure nothing there gets in the way of the installation. You can find the guidance to that here, but I'll copypaste it below this link for easier readability : https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/origin/origin/origin-my-games-list-is-blank/
- Then load a fresh copy of Origin from their site rather than using the installation on the Sims 4 disc : https://www.origin.com/en-us/download
- Then safe boot your computer : https://help.ea.com/en/help/faq/how-to-clean-boot-your-pc/
- When you have safe booted your computer, right-click on the OriginThinSetup.exe which you loaded earlier, and choose "Run as administrator" .

Hey there @kiawnuh
- If you want to ensure you lose no save progress with your Sims 4 , you can follow this guide to back your save up :
(From this guide : https://help.ea.com/en-in/help/the-sims/the-sims-4/backing-up-and-resetting-the-sims-4/)
Backing up your game:
- Let's try to install the Origin on a clean state.
First you should ensure that your Origin has been uninstalled properly : https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/origin/origin/manually-uninstalling-origin/
Then you should clear out the Origin's data cache to ensure there is nothing in the way of the new installation. For that, follow the guidance below :
- And then load a fresh copy of Origin from here : https://www.origin.com/en-us/download
Be sure to right-click on it, and choose "Run as administrator" .

I did what you said, however when i restarted my computer origin started installing on its own because of my sims 4 disk and already trying to install it anyways. It says it is updating and installing but after it says "Windows cannot find C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin\UpdateTool.exe" What do I do???
