Hey guys,
I just had the problem, that the OriginThinSetup.exe would open up on the taskbar and in the Task Manager whenever I tried to update Origin, but the UI wouldn't actually show up. I went ahead and did a full uninstall (the "hard way") and tried reinstalling, but ran into the same problem.
The only thing I have recently changed was, that I set the default GPU (for all programs) to my dedicated GPU (instead of the integrated GPU) in the NVIDIA control panel.
To fix this specific issue, all I did was change that setting back to automatic and the installer would launch without a single problem. I suppose only setting the GPU for the installer specifically would also work.
My GPU is a GTX 1050 with 4gb VRAM (mobile version, obviously).
This is probably a bug and will hopefully get fixed at some point. In the meantime, try this fix and all the others that are posted all over this forum.
