Separate purchase Awakening? [ Edited ]

I already have Dragon Age Origins standard edition. To play Awakening, is there a way to purchase only expansion, or do I have to buy Ultimate Edition? If only option is to buy Ultimate Edition, will I have two copies of Dragon Age Origins? If that's the case what should I do to merge two Origins copies? Thank you.

Awakening is available as an add-on.  You don't need to buy the UE.

But I would recommend doing so anyway.  All the other DLC make it worth getting, and the "merge" is just uninstalling your current version and installing the new one.  Your saves, achievements, and any mods won't be touched.
