Xbox One controller wont work with dragon age inquisition

I'm trying to play dragon age inquisition with my Xbox One controller hooked up by a USB cable. my problem is whenever I hook it up and start playing the game on it lets me run for a few seconds than the character keeps running but I cant stop him or move him. I cant move the camera either. its like the controller stops working. I know its not the controller because it works in other games. please help me I really want to play this game!!!

Have you made sure to switch the controls over to your controller instead of the keyboard and mouse in the game? If so, has there been an update for your controller? Have you tried reinstalling your controller drivers?
