1. Right-click the shortcut on your desktop. If you don't have one, make one.
2. Go to Properties.
3. Go to Compatibility.
4. Check "Run this program as an administrator."
5. Click Apply and then OK.
6. Use the shortcut to launch the game. The game now has administrator access and can successfully re-activate your game. Your OS was blocking the service previously.

Been there, done that. It was the first fix I tried to apply and still doesn't work.
December 2014
Yet another day goes by without a fix. If DLC is porn and multiplayer is civilization, then I feel like a man stranded on an island.

I bet a 1000$ ths problem is caused by their super-duper-yet-already-cracked DRM!!:catmad:

I'm at the point where a specialist is trying to help me with the issue.
The person had me do a trace to see if the connection is blocked anywhere--which I assume meant to see if it was blocked on my end. The trace showed all packets getting through just fine, except one point that had an IP address listed to EA was dropping %100 of packets. So, the specialist told me the issue has gotten stranger and that the trace was clear. And now the person wanted me to send in a file of my system information.
Yet, still the issue is being considered to be on my end. I suppose it'd be nice if it ended up being something I can fix. But each time it's showing nothing being wrong on my end.

I am having the same issue. Just in order to play the game at all and get to the intro screen I have to do an IPconfig /release /renew in the command prompt or else it will spin endlessly saying it is trying to connect to the EA servers. EA, no acknowledgement? Isn't it good business practice to pay attention to the customers who buy your product?

Same thing here.
So it happens, I am a MMORPG developer myself, and you know what? It's bloody easy to establish a bloody TCP connection. And I have more: if there is no connection, there's at least a reason - such as connection timeout, no route to host, connection reset, protocol error... Those are the things you can work with. But a generic "connection lost" adds up perfectly to an overall neglect this issue seems to be getting.
So yes, I vote for some "offline import", too. Or saved games import. Anything that works!

I tried every solution, port forwing, clear cache, reinstall, run as administrator, unistall antivirus, turn oof firewall, etc, nothing works. Cant explain ow frustrating it is.

December 2014
I recently made a post about this. Though, I was a little lucky and this problem arose since last wednesday. Before then, everthing was fine. I really enjoyed the multiplayer mode and now that I cant play is a downer, I've tried for a week now to resolve the issue to no avail. I feel this game was not at all made for PC even by the control haha. Some of my friends who have this for PS3-4 Have had no complaints to me, I didn't asked either. Also, not all of us are experience this issue, but still... More than enough are. It is coming up to 1 month since it's launch and we'll see if anything is done. I dont want to give the EA reps heat herem because it's not their fault. Those to blame don't read these comments and posts... I digress.
I hope this proble, gets fixed or I'm done with EA game in general, Ill go back to Skyrim and a studio that chooses quality over quantity.
