Dragon Age 2 DLC not working

I recently completed the Dragon Age 2 game on MAC and purchased the DLC Legacy for MAC.  I followed the instructions and properly installed the DLC.  The title screen displays that the DLC was purchased.  However, when I load and play the game, the option to play the DLC is not available. As recommended, I downloaded a patch that was marked for PC/MAC users, and noticed the download file was marked .exe (for Windows) and my computer won't open it.  Please advise me on what the issue might be and/or any solutions to address the issue.  Thanks.
