Dead Space 2: Release date check error

Greetings everyone,

For those of you encountering a "Release Date Check Failed" error message when attempting to play, please follow the steps below:

1. If you are installing from the Origin Client, we have published a new build for you. Please uninstall and reinstall once more.
2. If you are using the DVDs to install, please download the linked file corresponding to your version of the game: 
• Dead Space 2 (World Wide Release)
• Dead Space 2 (German Release)

Next copy this file from your downloads into your installation folder and replace the existing deadspace2.exe file.

If you are still encountering this exact issue afterwards, please create an Origin Error Report ID and post its ID as highlighted in red in the spoiler below.

1. Open Origin.
2. From the menu on the top choose "Help"
3. Select "Origin Error Reporter" (You can read more about it here: http://download.dm.origin.com/oer/en_GB.html )

You will see three screens as shown below. 

1. For type of error select "Downloading Games"
2. For the description of the problem, please include a brief description (copy/paste of your first post should do) and include a link to your forum post.
3. Check the box to share diagnostic information and click on "Send Report"
4. The error reporter will show the second screenshot from below and will then show the third screenshot when finished. On the third one mark and choose to copy (or write down) the Error Report ID text string (bolded) and post it here. 

With this ID we will be able to take a closer look at what exactly has been going on. Thank you very much for taking a look in advance.

All you need to do is this simple trick! Turn back the time and date in the bottom right hand corner of your windows desktop screen change it to oct/1/2011 then run the game. After it installs put you time and date back simple.

Just set your date to 2007 in your calendar and it should allow you to complete the Release Date Check for that initial launch.  After that you can change your calendar date back to actual time.  This fixed it for me.

I had no problems at all playing all 3 of the dead space games on my old Windows7 system. Last year I bought a new higher spec pc running Windows 8, and now I can't play ANY of the dead space games. Dead Space 3 gives me some message about "could not initialize blah blah blah" and every webpage I found on the issue advised me to edit my "settings.txt" file. Only one problem - there IS NO settings.txt file in the folder they mention. After hours screwing around with that I gave up in disgust and un-installed dead space 3. Then I installed dead space 2 and that won't bloody run either!!!  What the hell?? Tries to go through some stupid launch date check or some * like that, that I've never seen before in any other game, but then fails every time with some meaningless error message. I'm so annoyed now I can't even be bothered installing dead space 1. In fact if they ever release a dead space 4 I probably wont even buy it. EA you need to seriously look at your dead space games and fix these problems under Windows8. Oh yeah, I hate your stupid Origin * as well.

I have download and copy the second one(for Germany)

The Game starts, but i have a black Screen, few seconds later it switched automatically to the Desktop...

I bought mine from "Amazon" I chose the "Download" version... 

& after waiting for a few days I get this Ausie Release Date BS & it's keeping me from playing!!
