Crysis (original) and Windows 8

When I try to launch Crysis via Origin, or any of the .exe (64 and 32 bit versions) on my Windows 8 RC PC I get the following error:

This application is not compatible with the installed operating system. Please upgrade to windows 98SE, Windows 2000 or better.

I have tried compatability mode as far back as I can with Windows 8 (Which seems to have limited it self to Vista, unlike previos versions which could still do xp) with no luck.

Will there be a patch in the future or am I stuck with not being able to play? I used a coupon for a free game via origin on this and would be a little irked if I wasted it on this.

Thanks!

There may be a future patch that will allow you to play on Windows 8. Please monitor the web sites on this page for any newly available patches.

I had it running till last weekend! Unbelievable EA...

edit:: updated AMD drivers from beta 7 to 8, reboot, and Crysis started working again.

Re: Crysis (original) and Windows 8

Well, mine stopped working after I updated my Nvidia graphics drivers.

Reinstalling the game through Origin with all the patches did not work.

I have Crysis Warhead also, but it works fine.

My problem is that it works on one computer, my desktop but not on my laptop. I have tried everything to include a complete clean reinstall.

Reading this is disheartening!! Crysis has always been ahead of the gaming genera for years and now that I have finally built a better computer I consistently have difficulty trying to get the game to start. After updating the AMD drivers the game will not start at all. Same issue as ogre840.

Please fix soon. An update: after reading that Warhead would work I decided to install it as well.....with the same error result. To me the interesting thing is before I upgrade the patches (in order) and upgraded my video drivers I could play the game just fine. Granted there were glitches at time but it played none the less.
