Red Alert 3 lag in play

Until yesterday I had Red Alert 3 installed from a CD and the game played just fine.  I uninstalled that version and installed the ultimate version from Origin and now when I move the mouse to scroll, or click on an action there is almost a 1 second delay before anything happens.   The delay is so bad it's unplayable.  I know when we installed from the disk there was an update, are those updates missing from the Origin version?  Can anyone point me in the right direction to get this fixed?
