Yuri's revenge runs in very slow motion. It's the only game in the ultimate collection that does that. Do you know what causes that? I run windows 8 on a AMD quad core 635 processor with ATI radion 5700 and 16 gigs of memory

You can also try disabling the video back buffer option, add the following to your ra2.ini file in the [Video] section:
You can also try the unofficial RA2 1.007 patch and tick the box saying "Disable Hardware Acceleration" and see if that helps.
You can get the patch here:
http://blackassassins.org/pisc/readme.htm
If everything else fails you can download this DLL file from PPM and place it in your RA2 folder:

After nearly three years, this helped me a lot. Just wanted to thank you.
my settings are as follows (in C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Command and Conquer Red Alert II\RA2MD.ini):
[Video]
ScreenWidth=1920
ScreenHeight=1200
StretchMovies=no
VideoBackBuffer=no
works wonders

Ever since the installation of Windows 10 my application of Yuri's Revenge has become un-usable because it is running so slow. Not only the graphics slow it is also the mouse. I have tried most of the below fixes but all have no effect. I have also downloaded ddraw.rar - shortcut & pasted it in the RA2 folder. but unable to work it out to make it work, it certainly does not speed up yuri's after re- loading as it is. I could go back to windows 7 but this is not the best solution as I am happy with windows 10. Please can you help me?

@AustralFalcon Shortcut? It's a dll file. You place it in the game folder.

I do this on Windows 10 and the game runs smooth, but changing the resolution to anything other than the default 800x600 results in the gameplay graphics being totally messed up, runni9ng in pink and green colours off to the side of the screen. Changing it back to 800x600 makes it work fine again with no lag. But of course that resolution is far too low. Using the ddraw dll file doesn't work - the game menu doesn't even shop when using this and I suspect it's because that file is from the year 2008, way before Windows 120 and the latest version of directx.
Has anyone got this game working in 1080p?

I have Yuri's Revenge running in 1920x1080 resolution on a Windows 10 machine. I have previously fiddled with some fixes to be able to play the Mental Omega mod, so I'm not sure exactly what changes have been applied to the vanilla install to get it to working conditions. Booting Yuri's Revenge Revenge I did recall encountering slowdown in larger resolutions, but were fixed by applying the Command And Conquer Graphics Patcher: http://www.stuffhost.de/files/cnc/CnCPatcher.html
Here's what my video section in RA2MD.ini settings look like, in case that is any help for fixing other issues.
[Video]
AllowHiResModes=yes
AllowVRAMSidebar=yes
VideoBackBuffer=no
ScreenWidth=1920
ScreenHeight=1080
StretchMovies=no

Just so you all know, I now have Yuri's Revenge running in full 1080p with no lag on Windows 10 64 bit. I fixed that weird issue where the screen appears shifted to one side and the colours mess up.
It was all thanks to that ddwrapper patch by aqrit from http://www.bitpatch.com/ddwrapper.html - remember that after you install the patch to your game folder, customize its config file so that ForceDirectDrawEmulation is set to 1. This way, you can make the changes are required to the [video] section of ra2md.ini to have the following lines under it:
ScreenWidth=1920
ScreenHeight=1080
and all will be fine
This works with the Origin version of RA2YR, but there's an even easier way that should work with all versions - just get the freeware online/LAN gameplay client from CnCNet, the launcher included with it actually launches the game with all the graphical problems fixed. It's at https://cncnet.org/yuris-revenge#download
