Command and Conquer 3 not working

I was playing this game in the morning. Tried to play it again this afternoon and it now says

This application is not compatible with the installed operating system.

Please upgrade to Windows 98SE, Windows 2000 or better.

Why?

Please make sure that your Windows is up to date (run Windows Update) and that Origin is not running in compatibility mode (close Origin, right click on an Origin shortcut, go to Properties - compatibility and make sure that Run in Comp. Mode is unticked).

this has not fixed my game, I was just playing it and when I reloaded it it came up with this same error.

Have you tried running the actual game executable in compatibility mode?
