freeze and crash in friend screens

I am playing Simpson's Tapped Out on Kindle Fire HD.  Been playing for few months, but last couple weeks every time I have tried to go to friends towns the game will sometimes stutter then freeze, or seem ok when I collect one thing..then freeze, and then my game crashes.  Have cleaned the cache but didn't help.  Have a steady wi-fi connection.  Occasionally the game will lag and stutter, freeze for few seconds, then be ok.  Any help with this would be appreciated..having trouble getting anywhere as far as ghost collection and such from neighbours.  Thanks!

I have the original Kindle and it froze up completely. I can't even use my Kindle. I think I have to wait for the batteries to die. It is just a black screen now and hitting the power button does nothing. Not even long holding the power button. Thanks.
