Unable to start whacking snakes

The snacke sign on the screen has disappeared making it unable to start whacking snakes. The snakes don't disappear and are even still respawning! Also friends are still able to place eggs inside my town but I'm not able to do anything with them! Switching device, restarting and even re-installing is not working, this really ruins the game! Please help!
