Lost 5000 snakes

I went to play today and it downloaded an update that that made the town covered in snow, removing all of the whacking day stuff that I had received. When I restarted the game, the Whacking Day things reappeared, but my snake count went from about 5000 to zero, and my egg count went from about 50 to zero and has yet to reset itself. I have no idea what went wrong or how to get the snakes back.
