Yes, Avast and AVG can cause this kind of problem, even if its disabled. Your error log mentioning aswhooka.dll what is about Avast. This is the reason why you need another antivirus. Just uninstall and use other antivirus. This will fix the problem.

Were you able to play the game in the past, or is this a fresh install?

Can you post a link to your dxdiag? If we can see your system info perhaps that'll shed light on the source of the issue.

I'm having the same issue and mine is after a fresh install, I've repaired the file, checked for DirectX problems, and restarted my computer but still get this error.

that error message is pretty generic and can be caused by a whole lot of things.

Could you please create and attach a DxDiag file as mentioned above? That might provide more information about the actual root cause. Thanks!
