Help!! Bad Company multiplayer.. You need to be signed into Xbox live?

Battlefield Bad Company 2!! I really want to play. My BF has a account on my console and when he signs in he can play. When I log into my account I get this message. You need to be signed into Xbox live to access game play features. I am freaking logged in!!! Anyone have the solution, please help.
