Game only gets to screen after press start to continue PS3 [ Edited ]

I get to the screen after the press start to continue prompt the screen with a burning ship and waves, the screen continues to animate but the game gets no further.

I have a PS3 slim, have checked and cleaned the disk and still get no further than above.

Please help.

edit:

Deleted game data and downloading latest update again to see if that works.

RE edit:

After deleting game data and downloading the latest update the problem still remains.

Could you please try following workaround from our community member MorningTimeCloud:

1. Turn off Playstation 3.

2. Hold The power button down; The system will turn on and turn off once again.

3. Once the System has been shutdown, re-press you finger until you hear 2 consecutive beeps

4. When you hear the 2 beeps take finger off power button.

5. You will be prompted to plug in your controller via usb and then hit the PS button

6. The Recovery menu will pop up.

7. Select Restore File System.
