Battlefield 4 High Ping for no reason PC

[ Edited ]

When ever i join a BF4 multiplayer game, it starts lagging so badly ND I can't move. It comes up saying 999 ping and then I get kicked from the servers. This is really weird because I'm playing on local servers and I have a really good connection and fast internet. I've tried different servers and ones with less players but nothing has changed. Please help what should I do!!!

@XDarkstar616 Try this on your internet modem / router and let me know if this solved your issue. It helped my internet connection at home a lot.

1) Log into your modem / router
2) Turn OFF UPNP.
3) Turn off PC UPnP Service
4) Press: Windows-button a window should pop up. Write: services.msc then press enter.
5) In the list of services, scroll down to UPnP Device Host click it and press Stop service. Now do the same thing but with the service & SSDP Discovery
6) Exit the window and go to control panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Centre > Change advanced sharing settings under network discovery, select to turn off network discovery then Save your changes

Please also enable the following online ports on your connection:
TCP: 53, 88, 3074
UDP: 53, 88, 3074
For specific instructions on how to open your ports, please visit http://www.portforward.com/ or contact your router manufacturer.

This didn't work it made my made my upload and download speed 0%. On My PS3 the internet stopped working completely and it did not make BF4 on my work at all it stopped all the interent. Only once I enabled UPnP on my router settings it started working again. I'm still getting 999 ping in BF4 PC. Any ideas EA?

Interesting, that solves most peoples problems @XDarkstar616 Try doing a factory reset of your router.

Hello,

I am having the exact same issue, I tried opening ports using portforward.com modifying my cisco router connected to my modem.

Unfortunately, my issue has not been fixed, no matter what I do. This happens on all Battlefield games (BF4, BF Bad Company 2, BFPlay4Free). However Titanfall, Left4Dead, CS, CS:GO, Far Cry 3 multiplayer works fine. What is it about battlefield multiplayer that's so different from other games?!?

Please help.

This has happened to me also. Exactly the same thing, I have been playing this game for a year straight nearly every day and no problems then all of a sudden I can't get into a single game without being kicked for 500+ ping! In the sever browser it tells me I have a good ping of 80 - 90, then as soon as the game starts the ping jumps up to 500+ and I get kicked. Also all other games on the same PC and on all other devices work fine in my house. We need a solid fix, the only part of this game I continue to play is the online multiplayer aspect but now I can't play it anymore,  and I havn't even been able to play final stand once

  • Now save the file as packetloss.cmd making sure that you select all files in the filetype drop down
  • Now run packetloss.cmd and let it finish it can take a while
  • Now upload the results to somewhere like pastebin or another online storage site and send a PM to me, you can find the results in the EADAIG directory on your desktop

I will then have a look and let you know if your suffering from packetloss which can also increase the Latency of your connection.

If you are suffering from packetloss, depending on where it is you might be instructed to contact your ISP.

Also run a speedtest from http://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest.html
fill in the info and run the test the copy and paste the results in the thread.

If you have a static IP you can also use http://www.thinkbroadband.com/ping.html and create a graph to which will constantly monitor your connection for high latency and packetloss at the same time without the need of your computer being on, then place them results also into this thread.

On both of these test you can use the BBCode or HTML formatted version of the results to paste in these forums.

If this helps please mark as solution and award XP to them that helped solve the issue.

It seems EA is routing traffic through a firm that protects from DDoS attacks. After passing through the firms filters you get anything from 50-100ms added to your pings. This makes most EA games unplayable in multiplayer, because you have to add on the normal 60-100ms in latency, making EA servers ping at 110-200+ms.

Proof as below:

Tracing route to easo.ea.com [159.153.234.54]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

  1     1 ms    <1 ms    <1 ms  10.0.0.1
  2     1 ms     1 ms     1 ms  myrouter.home [192.168.1.1]
  3     7 ms     7 ms     7 ms  L100.TAMPFL-VFTTP-150.verizon-gni.net [71.100.133.1]
  4     9 ms     7 ms     9 ms  G101-0-0-34.TAMPFL-LCR-22.verizon-gni.net [100.41.221.126]
  5     *        *        *     Request timed out.
  6    13 ms    12 ms    11 ms  0.ae4.BR1.MIA19.ALTER.NET [140.222.225.113]
  7    52 ms    54 ms    55 ms  204.255.168.10
  8    55 ms    52 ms    54 ms  if-7-2.tcore1.AEQ-Ashburn.as6453.net [66.198.154.177]
  9    40 ms    39 ms    39 ms  66.198.154.66
 10    41 ms    42 ms    41 ms  unknown.prolexic.com [209.200.144.41]
 11     *        *        *     Request timed out.
 12   112 ms   112 ms   112 ms  unknown.prolexic.com [72.52.44.218]
 13   113 ms   114 ms   117 ms  159.153.93.2
 14   113 ms   112 ms   114 ms  159.153.225.30
 15   114 ms   114 ms   112 ms  meav5-pub.pt.iad.ea.com [159.153.226.105]
 16   113 ms   112 ms   114 ms  easo.ea.com [159.153.234.54]

Trace complete.

Your cure is worse than the disease. During the DDoS attacks I could still play with no problem, now your DDoS protection has made most BF4 servers unplayable.

Until this resolves I will in no way spend a single penny on EA multiplayre shooters. End of story.

Actually, I believe the DDOS filter is only applied components that are prone to DDOS, like login an central points in the backend at EA. Your actual game traffic to the game servers (which on PC is not even hosted by EA) does not go through the filter. All in all, the high pings at Prolexic, while troublesome, should not effect your ingame ping.
