BF4 Freezes after start menu - PS3

Firstly I will apologise if this has been posted elsewhere but I am tired of going round in circles on google and this site and I have tried to use the "chat" function on here and was ignored by the "assistant".
Anyway... I downloaded an update for BF4 on the PS3 at the end of January, since then the game will load to the "press start" menu then just stays on the rainy pavement (though now with another completely useless update a burning boat) I paid a butt load of money for this game and now I can't even play it. I have uninstalled the software and reinstalled but it makes no difference. I wouldn't even know who to ask about getting my money back - it seems impossible to talk to an actual person at EA.
Please any help would be greatly appreciated, I don't like getting frustrated by a game I can't even play!
