Here is solutions on most of the Battlefield 3 problems. This has been tested and should work.

Battlefield 3 System Requirements

Battlefield 3 is powered by the Frostbite 2.0 engine, which is based on the previous Frostbite 1.5, which powered Bad Company 2. The new engine brings a lot of visual improvements and a lot of optimizations as well. However, please note that Battlefield 3 won’t support DirecX 9, meaning it won’t run on Windows XP.

Minimum requirements for Battlefield 3

OS: Windows Vista or Windows 7

Processor: Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz or Althon X2 2.7 GHz

RAM: 2GB

Graphic Card: DirectX 10 or 11 compatible Nvidia or AMD ATI card, ATI Radeon 3870 or higher, Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT or higher.

Graphics Card Memory: 512 MB

Sound Card: DirectX compatibl sound card

Hard Drive: 15 GB for disc version or 10 GB for digital version

Recommended system requirements for Battlefield 3

RAM: 4GB

Graphics Card: DirectX 11 Nvidia or AMD ATI card, Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 or ATI Radeon 6950.

Hard Drive: 15 GB for disc version or 10 GB for digital version

Problem 1: Battle Field 3 Windows Compatibility

Solution: Battlefield 3 will be compatible with Windows 7 or Vista, as they're only using DirectX10 and 11 (sadly, no Windows XP support).

Battlefield 3 not working when Initializing

Possible Solution:

1: Navigate to {PC username} > My Documents >Battlefield 3 > settings.

2: Here you should be able to find a file named PROF_SAVE_BODY. Open this file, if it is completely blank you have found the roots of your problems, if the file is not blank this may not be your problem and this guide is unlikely to help you.

3: Delete this file.

4: Then open Origin and right click on Battlefield 3 in your game library.

5: Select "Show Game Details" and select the "Cloud storage" option next to "Details".

6: Deactivate Cloud Storage for Battlefield 3 or for all Origin games.

7: Now you can join a server. Battlefield 3 will notice that the file is missing and make a replacement file, this file will be using correct data and your problem should now be resolved.

Hello!

That's because you lost the connection to the EA server. Try to restart your internet router and it should work. Also, it can be your firewall that blocks you to connect to other players (Nat: Strict). You can turn it off in the settings of your internet router.

Hi again!

The solutions in the thread is working fine. However, there will always be new problems every day.

I recommend you to try a different server region. If that dosen't work you can always try to port forwarding. Also, check so not too many using the internet router at the same time. (much traffic).

Feel free to come back here if you have more questions or need further help.

Guide to resolve "Battlefield 3 not working" error message when entering the "Initializing" phase:

Description of the problem :
This guide is based on my personal problems with Battlefield 3. I cannot promise that this fix will apply for all users but it worked for me.

This guide aim to resolve an error that occurs when Battlefield 3 enters the phase/stage "Initializing" when joining a server and the user gets a Windows error message stating that "Battlefield 3 has stopped working".

The cause of the problem is a corrupt file that is being downloaded when the user connects to the cloud system.

If you have this problem reinstalling Battlefield 3/ Origin/ PunkBuster or getting a new PC will not help since the same corrupt will be downloaded as soon as you try to join a server.

Instead you can follow this guidelines for a very quick fix of the issue.

Step by Step Guide:
1: Navigate to {PC username} > My Documents >Battlefield 3 > settings

Hi aidentheowner!

I have check your current graphics card, and it shouldn't be a problem.

However, you can encounter this issue if your hard drive having too much files to handle or if you have any background programs up and running while you launching the game.

Try to clear up some space, delete every unecessary file/files and close all background programs. And make sure you have all latest drivers installed as well as the latest version of Origin.

Let us know if you have more questions about this.

- Sincerely, Timmie.

Hi Martin!

This issue can also appear if you are playing on a server with a huge amount of tickets. (1000 and above).
I recommend you to restart your internet router and try many different servers.

If the problem for any reason still persist, try to port forwarding:

Battlefield 3 Multiplayer Port Forwarding

First you need to add Battlefield 3/Origin to your firewall and security program’s exception lists. Now use these Ports:

PC

TCP: 80, 443, 9988, 20000-20100, 22990, 17502, 42127

UDP: 3659, 14000-14016, 22990-23006, 25200-25300

Hello Gamermagyar,

the sound loop like BRRRRRRRR is caused by a chipset error from your onboard sound system.

Have you tried updating your onboard sound  with the latest driver?

Ifso, you could buy a cheap USB Headset or a cheap Sound card you should be able to play normal.

Hi there nightxtiger,

Yes. I am aware of that issue and the only way to fix that is if DICE makes a new update or update their servers. There seems to be a problem when you play on a server with more than 1000 tickets. This can be because the server can't handle all the "action" going on at the same time.

I have tried multiple things to solve it, but it is just temporary solutions.

You can try to delete the game cache as well as the latest multiplayer update and install them again. But this doesn't solve the problem, it will come back again eventually.

Let me know if you need further assistance.

- With kind regards,

  Timmie.

Re: [READ] Battlefield 3 Crash Fixes etc. - PC, XBOX 360 & PS3..

I found this as well.... but nothing here worked. I played a 1000 ticket game and it worked awesome even though there was constant heavy close quarters firefighting. This was about a 10000 point game for me and 1000 tickets (I'm just an average player) which put me about 3rd or 4th on the finish, and we won. So to give you an idea about the kind of game load the system usually stomps through, this was one of those that the system would usually crash on.

So, I went ahead and continued playing to the next map, there were about the same number of players on the map, but this was an open outdoors map with vehicles. After about 500 tickets or more (30 minutes in this game), the game froze forcing a reboot of the system.

Here is what I did before playing the first map that was working without crashes.

If you have difficulty launching Battlefield 3 or experience frequent crashes in the game please try the following steps. Any of these steps may resolve your issue so each step may not be needed

Reverting your Game Settings to their Default State:
NOTE: This solution is particularly useful for those who both utilize the Cloud Save feature and play Battlefield 3 on different PCs, as synchronizing your game settings across different computers may cause crash-related issues.
Completing these steps and reverting your Settings back to Default will cause you to lose your single-player game progression.
Go to your Start Menu and select My Documents, then Battlefield 3, and finally Settings.
Delete the following files: PROF_SAVE_body, PROF_SAVE_header and PROF_SAVE_profile.
Login to the Origin Client and launch Battlefield 3 trough Origin.
If prompted to synchronize files with the server, don't and instead select Local Files.

Disabling your Onboard Sound Card:
Go to your Start Menu and select "Control Panel."
Select "Device Manager."
Locate your Sound Card and double click.
Go to the "Driver" tab and select "Disable."
NOTE: This step will turn off your sound if you only have an onboard sound card. To turn back on walk through those same steps and choose "Enable."

Updating your Network Integration Card (NIC):
Start -> Computer -> System Properties -> Device Manager
Locate your NIC card under Network Adapters
Right-Click and Select "Update Driver Software.
Walk through the prompts (typically "Next" -> "Install the sofware automatically" -> "Next")
Reboot may be required after successful update.

Disabling Windows Aero:
Right-Click on your Desktop and select "Personalize."
Scroll down and select "Windows 7 Basic."

Why including PS3 and XBOX? I don't see any frame rate fixes for the consoles..

Sorry. We need an update asap! We need it before End Games comes out.. or many gamers will quit.

I need a problem fic for DISCONNECTING TO SERVERS, not anything else!

If anyone have this problem:

Game disconnected: your connection to the server timed out.

Tehn please add 1 xp to this msg so that EA can actually see how many that have this problem and maybe actually not only care for money for once!

Hi there!

It can be your internet rotuer that is the problem. It could be your firewall blocking the connection to certain players and that makes you can't connect, or you will be disconnected.

You can turn of the firewall for the port you're using in the router_settings.

- Sincerely, Timmie.

Ps3 BF3 Premium Edition issues

★★★ Newbie

So of course i got my game yesterday, purchased it NEW off of bestbuy.com, I open it up and pop it in the system, there was a 1GB update, then 2GB install to HDD. All good. I try to set up Battlelog and I get a Loading screen and nothing happens, just stays here. So i restart the game....

I try to view My Soldier, screen darkens slightly and it just stays there. Restarted again... I then choose Multiplayer, screen darkens slightly and nothing happens. I can go into Options, Store and Campaign. I am not the only person with this issue, Some say this is happening because of the patch, some say this is happening because of the PSN maintenance.I have not used the DLC code as well.

Needless to say, i am a bit bummed.

Hi there!

Have you installed all five multiplayer updates? You need them in order to play the co-op/multiplayer mode.
