Online pass for Battlefield 3 not working

So I got Battlefield 3 the other day but to my dismay the online passcode didn't work. I got the game pretty much for online gameplay so this is kind of a bummer. I really don't want to buy the pass for ten dollars considering I bought the game thinking it would work so I don't know what you guys could do but I would really appreciate some help!
