Last time I played was 2 weeks ago. When I came in a couple of nights ago, the ORIGIN restarted and said it was changing to an alternate company. After an attempted upgrade, I can now not play the game, with the above message. "OPERATING SYSTEM UNSUPPORTED You need to upgrade to a newer version of Windows to play Battlefield 3 TM"
I am running Windows 7 SP1 with the desktop icon confirming this as compatible. Please help!!

I had this exact same problem after an origin update. To resolve, I completely uninstalled origin through the add/remove program section of windows and then reinstalled origin. Some files are left behind after the "upgrade" and then the program believes you are running an older version of windows. It has been more of a game to get it to run than actually playing the game itself. Good luck!

Thanks for your help but rather than uninstall it, I double checked BOTH BF3 and ORIGIN shortcuts on my desktop. Apparently the upgrade changed the ORIGIN preferences to Windows XP. I simply reallocated it back to the correct W7 and she works like a dreadm. Regards.

Did you install the latest updates, even the Optional ones? If not do so.
