First: I did manage to launch Battlefield 3 before, on this same PC, with the same OS and stuff (Windows 8 pro)
When I try to start Battlefield 3 there's this nagging screen with the file association problem.
Tried so far (after some research I did)
Run as administrator
Disabled virus scanning software
Checked the standard browser (Google Chrome)
Tried to repair the install. In the end, at 99%, there is also an error message.
This is a weird problem, since I managed to launch the game before.
Can you please help me here?
Thanks very much in advance.
Kind regards,

It looks like Windows doesn't know how to open the Battlelog url command that is executed when you hit play on Battlefield 3 in Origin.
Could you try the following please to re-associate the required protocols with your default browser:
Open the control panel and navigate to Default Programs. Click "Associate a file type or protocol with a program" and then search for http and https under Protocols and select your preferred browser as the default program. You might also want to check the default file extensions like .htm, .html, .php, .shtml.
Btw, if you don't want to miss the double XP weekend, you can always manually open http://battlelog.battlefield.com in your preferred browser and log in with your Origin account in order to play the game.
