HELP installing bf1942 from origin on an MSI laptop

★ Novice

So I recently got myself an MSI laptop GTX 1070 with a windows 10 installed on it. A friend of mine installed bf 1942 and plays it, so remembering my childhood I decided to install it and play with him. Luckily I was there to snatch it while it was free on origin, and still have it on my account. When I turn on the game I get through the intro just fine, but then the menu takes forever to load and I get less than 1 frame per second when it finally does. I will attach a video to the question so you can see. I haven't found a similar problem online, and by now I have tried just about everything, changing drivers on my graphics card, tried turning off firewall and norton protection, changing compatibility, running it as an admin, downloading the 1.61 patch, turning all options to minimal (that was very painful and long) nothing seems to work. I tried running the game on my fathers laptop, also a rather recent one, also windows 10, also has bf1942 on origin, and it worked perfectly fine, no patches no compatibility changes what so over. We have tried many different methods, a few listed on this site and got nowhere. Id like to add that there is no sound in the intro or the menu, while on the other laptop there is (in bf1942 only). I also have smite and planetside 2, the later being quite demanding and it runs perfectly smooth, so bf1942 is special in its problem. Also just to clarify, the game DOES launch, thats not the problem, its extremely slow is all.

Also as you could probably tell Im rather new to computers, I had one a long time ago and Im only 16 now, so I had to learn a lot in the time I tried to install bf, so I would appreciate if you could keep your messages simple or at least try to explain them, Thank You.

Hello @emile44

Don`t worry about this! The user might already resolved everything and so much in the game right now, he just have no time to thank you. But your help is always appreciated nonetheless.

Cheers,

Thanks for the response. The direct play is turned on, i will try looking if i have the other thing turned on, but I doubt thats the cause of the problem.

i know that 3rd party software  can cause problems see this topic

- Turn off any and all overlays, especially the Xbox Game DVR on Win 10 (Open Xbox App > Settings > Game DVR > Turn slider off for "Record game clips...").
- You'll probably need to restart too; before or after trying the following as well...
- Enable compatibility mode to Win XP SP3 for BF1942.exe and Blackscreen.exe, run 1942, try to join a game (it may hang / crash), exit, disable compatibility mode on both, reboot. Ymmv.

also is it a fresh install of bf1942 from origin  and not a copy paste game ?

and because you have no sound i think it maybe sound card it self that has no 22kHz  sound

goto bf1942 options click sound set 44 kHz  now press the sound tab below and set 64 channels and save

now goto video settings set your display mode to  highest setting posible like 1980 x 1080

newer videocards may have drop support  for 800 by 600
